The Kohima Region of Northeast India
"What's the meaning of running after wealth? Maybe I should offer my life to God and serve Him better. This was the best thing that happened in my life." -Fr. Anand Pereira, SJ

The Kohima Jesuits have been "twinned" with the Wisconsin Province Jesuits since 2002, which means they share a special relationship of mutuality and support. Their mission involves "accompanying the marginalized through the service of faith and the promotion of justice, while engaging in dialogue with other cultures and religious traditions." Projects of the Kohima Jesuits are located in primarily rural, mountainous surroundings in the Himalayan hills and valleys between Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Tibet. The Northeast is historically, politically, and ethnically distinct from mainland India, with land, cultures, and languages that are among the most diverse in the world.

The Kohima Jesuits principally focus on several ministries and works: pastoral efforts, education, health care, social research, socioeconomic transformation, diocesan support, and conflict resolution and peace initiatives.
