Jesuits Host Annual Twin Cities Mass and Brunch

The Jesuits hosted their annual Twin Cities Jesuit Mass and Brunch on Sunday, October 16, at Church of St. Patrick-Edina. Attendees included the 30 Jesuit novices in formation at the Jesuit Novitiate of St. Alberto Hurtado in St. Paul and 85 Jesuit supporters, donors, and friends in the Twin Cities.

Father Larry Ober, SJ, socius to the director of novices at the novitiate, celebrated the Mass and served as homilist, while some of the novices served as lectors, servers, and choir participants. During the brunch, two of the novices, Robert Purgert, nSJ, and Ryan Birjoo, nSJ, also offered reflections about their vocation discernment and experience at the novitiate. Other speakers included Al Bill, the Midwest Jesuits' regional director of advancement in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and Br. Ralph Cordero, SJ, who serves on the novitiate staff.

"The annual Mass and brunch is a great way for Jesuit-inspired people in the Twin Cities to gather and experience the Ignatian spirit that is so very much alive in our community," said Bill.

In addition to the novitiate, the Midwest Jesuits run a number of ministries in the Twin Cities area. These include Cristo Rey Jesuit High School-Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Saint Thomas More Catholic Community in St. Paul, Demontreville Jesuit Retreat House in Lake Elmo, the Ignatian Volunteer Corps in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Minneapolis.
